Sustainability
Restoring Helmerhus prolongs the lifespan of an already long standing structure. Favouring refurbishment over demolition has enabled the project to minimise embodied carbon.
Ecofriendly
Resourceful
Committed
Our renovation of the historic Helmerhus demonstrates our commitment to sustainability by showcasing how careful restoration can drastically reduce environmental impact compared to new construction, with minimizing embodied carbon and meeting Copenhagen’s high standards.
-
Reduced Carbon Footprint
By preserving the building’s original main structure with foundations, basement, loadbearing structures and external walls, we have significantly lowered the carbon emissions associated with the project. Instead of producing and transporting new materials, we have utilized existing ones, slashing our carbon footprint and embodying a sustainable approach to development.
-
Innovative Material Reuse
During renovation, we meticulously repurposed many of the building’s original materials. Our creative reuse of old wooden floors into stylish furniture and the resale of windows, kitchen components, and many more items in our recycling shop has minimized waste and breathed new life into classic elements.
-
Community and Circular Economy
The sale of reusable materials in our recycling shop not only promotes sustainable practices but also supports the local economy. This initiative reduces the demand for new resources and fosters a community-oriented approach to renovation.
-
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The building’s new components ensure modern office facilities with the latest energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and windows, minimizing future energy consumption and thereby reducing future CO₂ emissions. These upgrades provide a comfortable and eco-friendly working environment.
